What the number means
The 0–100 score is a concise editorial judgment about a book's value for its intended reader. It is not a scientific measurement, a ranking of an author's worth or a substitute for reading the review. Different genres call for different emphases, so the written reasoning remains primary.
Questions we consider
- Argument and depth: does the work develop its central idea convincingly?
- Structure and craft: does the organization help the intended reader?
- Originality and context: what does the work add, and what does it borrow?
- Evidence and accuracy: how well are important claims supported?
- Reader value: for whom is the work most useful, and where are its limits?
Reading the range
- 90–100: unusually strong within its stated aims.
- 80–89: strongly recommended, with limits worth understanding.
- 70–79: valuable for a particular reader or purpose.
- 60–69: worthwhile ideas alongside substantial weaknesses.
- Below 60: significant concerns in the context of this review.
Limits and revisions
Two books with the same score may be good for different reasons. The advantages, limitations and suggested audience explain the number. If a material error or new evidence changes the assessment, Tale24 can revise the review and score and indicate the change.
